Welcome
Welcome to the instructional resource hub Climate Literacy for Equity, Action, and Resilience (CLEAR) instructional resource hub dedicated to CCC faculty. Faculty can explore and share high-quality teaching materials, innovative pedagogies, and best practices related to climate and environmental equity (aka sustainability).
Through Vision 2030, climate action for the CCC systems is being deployed in community engagement, facilities and operations, student engagement, and curriculum integration. This website supports the curriculum integration for CCC faculty across the state.
Climate and Environmental Equity through Curriculum Integration
Vision 2030 recognizes the importance of climate literacy and action, not just for the planet, but for the benefit of all 2.2 million CCC students. California community college students come from a wide cross-section of backgrounds, life experiences, and educational preparation. The majority of students are from communities with lower income, less education, and experience higher impacts from climate change and pollution. Incorporating climate and sustainability themes across disciplines elevates the importance of ensuring CCC students recognize and participate in an equitable and just transition to a sustainable future.
There has been a movement across higher education to incorporate climate and sustainability across the curriculum and across disciplines. Commonly referred to as: climate or sustainability across the curriculum, climatized curriculum, or sustainability across disciplines, this movement has been at individual four-year institutions with a handful of community colleges participating. Vision 2030 invites all CCC faculty to participate in this movement as a ket component of a system-wide approach to climate action.
